Classes
Check out the great classes set up
for 2009!
Classes are taught by fellow beaders who
volunteer their time to teach us a new project. Classes are usually
about 2 hours. Everyone can sign up for three classes. But, since
the spirit of the Retreat is that we share our knowledge, we all
pass on what we learned to our table mates when we come out of
class. So you'll spend the weekend learning many new things.
Registration for classes will begin soon so
watch your email for notification.

Bead Challenge
This year's Bead Challenge is a little different. This year
the challenge will be to incorporate a focal piece into your design.
When you send in your Retreat registration, we'll mail you a focal
piece. Add your own beads, wire, fiber or what ever inspires
you to create your piece. Complete your project ahead of time
and bring it to the Retreat. We'll award cash prizes for 1st,
2nd, and 3rd places.
We have a limited number of challenge
pieces so register early to be sure you receive one.
Face Pin Swap
A new swap for 2009! This year we'll make a
Face Pin to swap. It can be any style and technique you
choose. The only rule is that it must incorporate some kind of
face. We were really inspired by the Sassy Art Goddess
annual
Beaded Face Brooch Swap. Take a look at their great swap
items to get your creative juices going.
Bead Sales
Once again
Jane's Fiber
& Beads is our on-site bead store. Jane carries a huge
assortment of seedbeads in every size, shape and color you can
imagine. Plus she will have Czech pressed glass, semi-precious,
books, tools and other bead supplies. This year
Jane will arrive on Thursday so get your shopping list ready.
Unlike many bead events, the focus of the Texas Bead Retreat is
on doing beadwork and not the business of beads.
Therefore, we have an exclusive arrangement with our on-site bead
store to provide the supplies we need for the weekend.
Sales by retreat attendees of non-competitive items are permitted
but table-space is limited and is on a first-come, first-served
basis. If you wish to sell any items, prior approval is necessary.
Please contact
Sandy before the retreat to discuss your items.
Door Prizes
We have great fun giving away so many wonderful door prizes donated
by such generous people. Please contact Elizabeth if you have items
to donate. Those selling at the Retreat are asked to donate an item
for Door Prizes.
White Elephant Box
We’ll once again have a white elephant box for your unloved beads
and supplies. These are bead-related items you no longer need and
want to give away to a new home. Look for the box by the
registration table.
